Monitoring and authorizing low-risk plant protection products and biological control agents
European Parliament Brussels | ROOM ASP 1E2
To support our farmers looking for alternatives to more harmful substances, Europe urgently needs more low-risk plant protection products. This is why Renew Europe wants to make it easier and quicker to authorise new products.
Currently, the authorization of low-risk plant protection products takes too much time. On top of this, non-aligned procedures and insufficient communication between the authorized authorities create uncertainties and a lack of knowledge on available plant protection products for the future. To solve these problems, we need to enforce and align the procedures of authorisation and improve communication between the different European and national authorities.
In this seminar, our hosts Jan Huitema and Asger Christensen will discuss the ongoing revision of the regulation on sustainable use of plant protection products with different stakeholders in the field with the aim of finding solutions to achieve our zero-pollution ambitions and ensure sustainable solutions for our farmers.
