Stronger industries, stronger Europe
Our plan for a competitive, innovative and resilient industry
After the lessons learned about the vulnerabilities of the European production model due to the impact of the Covid19 pandemic, Russia’s illegal, unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Ukraine, the nationalistic policies of the US and China and increased global trade disputes, our group outlined its plan for a competitive, productive and innovative industry.
We have launched a set of proposals aiming to strengthen our Union's sovereignty, which will boost job creation, a faster environmental friendly transition and increased geopolitical influence.
Our plan for a competitive, productive and innovative industry
Renew Europe calls for:
- A Clean Tech, Competitiveness & Innovation Act, to improve conditions for companies, big and small to innovate, to grow and to succeed globally.
- A European Sovereignty Fund & Reform Act to incentivise structural reforms & investments with added value for European strategic autonomy.
- A New Generation of Partnerships in the World Act, using EU power in trade to promote new partnerships and diversify supply chains.
Renew Europe believes we need to tackle the industrial competitiveness of essential European sectors such as energy, raw materials, cybersecurity, and food security, thereby reducing our dependency on third countries, while fostering job creation, businesses opportunities and innovation, especially for SMEs (more of 95% of all businesses in the EU), a faster environmental and digital transition and increased geopolitical influence via a new era of economic and trade partnerships with democratic countries.

“Open strategic autonomy is the European Union's response to today’s challenges and Renew Europe has a plan to build it, based on three main concepts: openness, autonomy and taking account of geostrategic issues.”
“Other countries are developing different responses. Russia is sinking into expansionist imperialism. China has isolated itself. Others are seeking new alliances of circumstance at the risk of becoming vassals. Europe has chosen a better path to protect our citizens, diversity, businesses and our European way of life.”
