As European leaders convene in Paris, Valérie Hayer, President of Renew Europe, has today written to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission and António Costa, President of the European Council, calling on them to urgently propose a rewiring of European security, to transform the EU into a sovereign security provider.
The proposals outlined by Renew Europe MEPs are more than a wake-up call. It's a comprehensive plan with robust, tangible and symbolic measures destined to make the EU the power it needs to become now, once and for all.
Valérie Hayer, President of Renew Europe, said: "If Europe does not determine its own future, others will determine it for us. This is not the time for business as usual. We must act now to rewire European security. Talks over Ukraine’s future must involve Ukraine and EU. It is high time for the European Union to undertake concrete actions to determine and ensure our own security."
