With five liberal Commissioners and as the second force in the college, Renew Europe is enabled and ready to drive a progressive and pro-european reform agenda. Sustainable re-industrialization, a strong rule of law anchored across the Union and an unchangeable adherence to the Green Deal are closely interlinked to a successful European future of security and prosperity.

We will hold the newly elected college to account: there is no blank cheque. With a strong new framework agreement long called for by European liberals and democrats, which will enhance the power of the elected Parliament. Strongly united in the vote today, the Renew Europe is the political winner from this process. It is our job to ensure that European citizens truly benefit from a more united Europe.

Valérie Hayer, President of Renew Europe, speaking in the European Parliament, said:

"This Commission is elected on the basis of a work programme that largely includes our Renew proposals and this is very good news. We are at a turning point. This could be the most important Commission since the founding of the Union. If we don’t reinforce our security, our defence market and our support to Ukraine, Europe will be at major risk. Between an increasingly hostile Russia and the US choosing isolation, we have no option B: Europe needs to get stronger, not least with substantial reforms of EU institutions and treaties, this is our liberal ambition and longtime overdue."

Citizens expect us to deliver on quality jobs, on competitiveness and a strong defence of liberal freedoms and democracy. Renew Europe as a key player is ready to get back to business, to implement reforms, including those proposed by Mario Draghi, that will improve Europe’s competitiveness, increase investment, make Europe more secure and free.

Valérie Hayer, President of Renew Europe, speaking in the European Parliament, declares further:

"Let’s answer Mario Draghi’s wake-up call. We need to create the conditions to create jobs, firms, to serve our competitiveness. We also need to make life easier for our SMEs and farmers. They are exhausted by excessive red tape. We have to accelerate to implement the Green Deal and we will keep the Commission in check on this There can be no backtracking when it comes to protecting the planet.

Autocrats and populists want to undermine people’s rights, so Europe must protect them. No rule of law, no EU funds, we appreciate EU Commission 's support for smart conditionality."
