Coordinators of the European Parliament's Committee on Transport and Tourism have assessed the performance of Adina Ioana Vălean (Romania) as Commissioner-designated for Transport. During the three hour hearing, Renew Europe MEPs had the opportunity to ask her about what matters to the Group and the citizens they represent, in order to evaluate her candidacy to the appointed European Commission position.
MEP José Ramón Bauzá Díaz, Renew Europe Coordinator of Transport and Tourism Committee said: "We are confident with the Commissioner-designate. She has a thorough knowledge of the House. She was convincing despite the fact that she is still on a learning curve in the transport sector. I believe in her potential and I am looking forward working with her.”
MEP Jan-Christoph Oetjen, Vice-Chair of the Transport and Tourism Committee said: "We need to deliver a Single European Sky and accelerate the procedure on this file. This would reduce greenhouse gas emissions on the one hand and would increase airspace capacities on the other hand. We are happy that the future Commissioner does not support passenger name records (PNR) in any areas other than in the aviation sector.”
