Renew Europe express deep concerns on new attacks against political freedom in Hungary

Renew Europe has today expressed deep concern with the repeated attacks against rule of law and basic democratic principles in Hungary following today's investigations launched against Momentum, one of the most prominent opposition parties to the current Hungarian government.

Dacian CIOLOȘ, President of Renew Europe said: "The mobilisation, for political purposes, of state justice and investigation bodies to harass and intimidate political opponents is unacceptable. This continued assault to democracy in Hungary should trigger a new reflection on the sanction mechanisms within Europe against governments that clearly undermine our common European values. We stand in solidarity with Momentum in the face of politically motivated attacks".
