During today’s second hearing in the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, Commissioner-designate for Agriculture Janusz Wojchiechowski was able to further elaborate his vision for a European agricultural policy that will make the sector future-proof and helps to tackle current challenges such as climate change. Wojchiechowski ultimately secured the committee’s support. Members of Renew Europe stressed that they are going to closely monitor how he will put his words into action.
Ulrike Müller, Coordinator in AGRI Committee, said after today’s second hearing:
“I am confident that we will have a solid basis in order to work together. We will be closely monitoring his work and how he will put his words into action. We expect him now to stick to his promises, to speed up the work on the CAP reform without unnecessary delay and to help making the sector future-proof by supporting our young farmers and facilitating innovation and competitiveness. I am looking forward to a fruitful and effective collaboration in the interest of our farmers.”
