Reconstruction Talks
Forging the EU-Ukraine Future: A Defining Moment for Economic Recovery and Integration

Ukraine’s path to European Union accession has become a strategic priority for both Kyiv and Brussels, reinforcing the EU’s role as the primary driver of Ukraine’s economic recovery. The war has profoundly reshaped Ukraine’s economic landscape, making structural reforms, investment, and reconstruction urgent imperatives. In this context, the EU has positioned itself as Ukraine’s most reliable partner both economically and politically. At a time when geopolitical shifts create uncertainty, including an increasingly ambiguous U.S. stance, the EU must take a leadership role in shaping a stable, long-term post-war order
Therefore, Ukraine’s reconstruction must be more than rebuilding—it must drive modernization, advancing the country toward joining the EU. Aligning with the EU’s sustainable and digital transition will enable Ukraine to develop technologies and infrastructure, streamline its industrial base, the supply chains, and contribute to the strategic autonomy of the continent. In turn, achieving these transformations will come with a strong integration in the EU internal market, making of Ukraine an asset for the whole EU.
Where does the EU stand on reconstruction? What are the current plans to deliver resources in strategic sectors for Ukraine’s future? Is the new stance of the US affecting current projects of cooperation with the EU?
To answer to these questions, Renew Europe Group is convening a roundtable, reaffirming its commitment to Ukraine’s integration in the EU, and reconstruction. While the future of Ukraine is in the EU, the Union must solidify its strategic role in Ukraine’s future: leaving no grey zones in defending democracy, security, and a shared European economic future.
