The aim of the event is to discuss challenges and opportunities for the large scale fisheries sector and to showcase that there are many different vessels with different challenges and opportunities. The seminar would seek to see how the sector could be even more sustainable and contribute to more prosperous coastal communities. Many aspects are affecting the future of this segment of the fishing sector such as Brexit but also the view of the public. With this seminar, we would like to identify challenges but also discuss ways forward for this important sector for food security and increased sustainability in the EU.
The seminar would include participants from the industry, the Commission, ICES and NGOs to give their perspectives followed by a panel discussion.
