Reinforcing the EU’s fight against hate, racism, xenophobia and intolerance is one of Renew Europe main priorities. Indeed, every day, citizens are confronted with other people's attitudes, motivated by prejudice, intolerance, discrimination or hatred. But all forms and manifestations of racism, xenophobia and intolerance are incompatible with the values upon which the EU is founded, as enshrined in Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU) and should be strongly condemned and fought!
In December, the European Commission will present an initiative to extend the list of EU crimes to all forms of hate crime and hate speech. Ahead of this legislative proposal and with this event, Renew Europe intends to give an overview of the situation of hate crimes and hate speech in the European Union and mostly to discuss how we can better fight against those phenomena.
