This webinar hosted by MEP Jan Huitema, who is the EP Rapporteur for the Circular Economy Action Plan, will look at concrete ways to make products in the EU more sustainable and resource efficient. It will address the core upcoming legislative initiative under the Commission´s New Circular Economy Action Plan, namely the planned Sustainable Products Policy framework, to be launched next year. This initiative will include new ecodesign standards for key product groups, making them more durable, repairable, reusable and recyclable.
The event will bring together high-level experts, policy-makers, stakeholders and the Commission to discuss concrete opportunities and challenges in relation to this emerging EU policy.
The event will also concretely focus on some key product groups which have a big environmental impact, and which are likely to be targeted by the upcoming proposals, namely textiles and furniture.
The event includes a keynote speech by Janez Potočnik, Chair of the International Resource Panel and Former Commissioner for the Environment, a presentation by the Commission about the latest state of play in the preparations of the upcoming legislative proposal, and a discussion with experts and key stakeholders.
