Europe’s economy is losing ground. Wages are stagnating, businesses are struggling with high energy costs and red tape, and global competitors are racing ahead. The Draghi report makes it clear—if we don’t act now, Europe risks falling behind. We need bold reforms to cut bureaucracy, boost investment, and create good jobs. Renew Europe is ready to deliver.

Europe’s economy is at a crossroads. Stagnating growth, declining competitiveness, and an aging workforce threaten our future prosperity. The recent Draghi report has made it clear: unless we act decisively, Europe risks falling behind in the global economy.

High energy costs, excessive bureaucracy, and a lack of investment in innovation are stifling businesses, while wages struggle to keep pace with inflation. People are feeling the pressure—whether it’s small business owners drowning in red tape, workers struggling to make ends meet, or young Europeans facing an uncertain job market.

Throughout the last mandate, Renew Europe was at the forefront of tackling these challenges. We fought for the reform of EU fiscal rules to allow for smart investments in infrastructure and innovation. We also secured crucial measures to lower energy prices, protect SMEs, and drive forward the digital transition. These efforts laid the groundwork, but much more needs to be done.

Jobs and competitiveness square

At the same time, our competitors are not waiting. The U.S. is surging ahead with massive investment in green and digital industries, while China continues its aggressive push for economic dominance. If Europe wants to remain a global leader, we must act now.
That means making the Draghi report a reality—cutting unnecessary bureaucracy, boosting strategic investments, and ensuring our businesses have the tools they need to compete. It means creating high-quality jobs, securing Europe’s energy independence, and reinforcing the single market to unlock its full potential.

Renew Europe is committed to delivering real economic progress that people feel in their daily lives. From lowering energy prices to supporting entrepreneurs, from ensuring fair wages to driving technological innovation, we will fight for a Europe that is competitive, resilient, and prosperous. The time for action is now—we cannot afford to fall behind.
