Nice terror attack: Renew Europe stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of France

In a series of attacks today, France was again targeted in the most cowardly way. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. In this moment, we remember with sadness that the people of Nice were already victims of an odious attack 4 years ago.  May they be assured of our enduring support. With this barbaric act, it is each one of us who is targeted. More than ever, we must remain united and determined to defend our values in the face of those who want to divide us.

Renew Europe Group President, Dacian Cioloş (PLUS, Romania), said :

“In response to these barbaric attacks, the only answer is solidarity: my thoughts are with the victims, their families and loved ones.
We owe it to ourselves to act: once again, the values of the Enlightenment must prevail in the face of fanaticism. Reason must triumph.  France is not alone - an attack on innocent people in any European country is an attack on all Europeans, whatever their faith, belief or non-belief.  We will not bend. We will not give in. We will stand united and protect our fundamental values.
President Macron can count on our support. Europe stands by the French.”

MEP Stéphane Séjourné, head of Renaissance Delegation (France):

"While this morning the city of Nice once again suffers an appalling terrorist attack, it is France, the whole of Europe that is affected. Now more than ever, we must protect our values together. In these troubled times that we are going through, European unity has never been so necessary. Let us stand up, together and stand together once again to defend freedom of expression, freedom to believe or not to believe, and let us continue to fight all forms of terrorism".
